Cast Acrylic vs Standard Plastic Jacuzzi
Manufacturer perspective on durability, hygiene, UV resistance and lifespan differences between SO cast acrylic surfaces and standard plastic/thermoformed shells.
Manufacturing method difference
Cast acrylic (SO acrylic) is produced in a single-piece mold pour with a homogeneous, repairable surface. Standard plastic/thin thermoformed shells may cost less but can have limited impact and UV resistance.
Comparison table
| Criterion | Cast SO acrylic | Standard plastic shell |
|---|---|---|
| Surface hygiene | Smooth, antibacterial coating | Micro-scratch / pore risk |
| UV resistance | High on outdoor models | Fading / dulling risk |
| Repair | On-site polish/repair possible | Limited |
| Lifespan | Suited to long-term spa use | Short to medium term |
| Heat retention | Better thermal comfort | Variable |
Buying recommendation
If you expect daily use, outdoor installation and strong warranty support, cast acrylic is the better choice. Anti-bacterial SO acrylic surfaces are our standard manufacturing approach on Kuntbay Jacuzzi models.
