Terrace Jacuzzi Weight Calculation for Standalone Homes
Practical guide to filled weight, floor load capacity, structural safety margin and engineering approval for terrace and garden jacuzzis.
How is filled weight calculated?
Total load = empty jacuzzi weight + water weight + user load + safety margin. Water weight is calculated as volume (m³) × 1000 kg. Assume 75–90 kg per person for user load.
- Example: 1.2 m³ water ≈ 1200 kg
- 4-person use ≈ +320 kg
- Empty spa shell ≈ 150–350 kg (model dependent)
- Safety margin: at least 15–20%
Terrace / timber deck risks
- Timber frame load capacity may not support a filled jacuzzi.
- On concrete terraces, slope, waterproofing and drainage must also be assessed.
- Structural engineer report is recommended for upper-floor installations.
